Helping keiki discover the magic of dance through Ballet
A little about me-
My name is Alisha Allen. I am thrilled to be starting up Maui Keiki Ballet. I believe that dance is a wonderful discipline and form of self-expression that can help develop confidence, creativity, and community. I strive to create a welcoming environment where students can explore their passion for dance and have fun!
My journey in dance began at age 8. My dedication and love for the art led me to try many styles of dance from Lyrical, Jazz and ballroom dancing. After years of dance I was thrilled to be invited to compete at the World Championships of Performing Arts, where I was honored with third place in the world for my ballet performance.
Growing up, dance was my sanctuary, a place where I could challenge myself in a nurturing and safe environment. Surrounded by peers and a supportive team, I learned to step out of my shell, growing not just as a dancer, but as a person. My experience has taught me that dance is an incredible tool for personal growth. It instills courage, resilience, and grit in young dancers.
As an instructor I am committed to creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere in my ballet classes, where children can explore their potential, grow in confidence, and develop their artistic expression. My teaching philosophy centers around the belief that dance is not just about learning steps; it's about fostering a sense of community, building character, and having fun while doing it.
My curriculum is designed to provide a foundation in classical ballet for the benefit of our keiki: to help them grow in confidence, strength and resiliency as they have fun socializing and engaging with their peers. The classes are thoughtfully structured into four distinct segments: an initial warm-up, center floor activities, a series of across-the-floor exercises, and a concluding cool-down session. Each week will have a unique theme, incorporating exercises specifically designed to enhance the students' strength, flexibility, and fine motor skills.
I truly believe that dance has the power to bring people together and foster a sense of belonging. I am committed to building a supportive ohana of dancers by encouraging our students to support one another both inside and outside the studio.
Our beginner keiki ballet classes are perfect for those who are brand new to dance and want to try it out. We focus on building a strong foundation of technique while making it fun and enjoyable for ages 3 to 4.
